Despite dressing up in outfits that were years beyond their ages they managed to pull it off.

Teen lovers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were the surprise highlight of the red carpet at the 2011 American Music Awards on Sunday night.

The pair wowed the crowds as they arrived and departed the event in a white vintage Packard Super 8.

Dressed as if they had just walked off the set of Bugsy Malone, the sweethearts channeled Hollywood's most glamorous era as they hit the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles..

Justin was a real dapper gent and wore a black tuxedo with a bow tie.
The 17-year-old sported a new slicked back hairstyle to complete his 1920s look.

Pop princess Selena wore a metallic Giorgio Armani gown that was low cut and featured a thigh high slit.

Her champagne satin dress was elegant but the backless feature added some spice to the outfit.

With her hair in loose curls Gomez and Justin looked mature and classy in their vintage gear.

Selena, 19, and Justin couldn't keep their hands off each other and the pint sized Canadian was constantly seen kissing his beau.

Justin also helped his girlfriend negotiate the red carpet as her gown was so long she kept stepping on it.

The long gown got special attention from singer Taylor Swift who took the time to give the gold Armani number a closer look.

The recent paternity allegations didn't appear to have dampened the love between the two as they put on several public displays of affection.

Bieber took to the stage at the awards show and performed his Christmas hit Mistletoe.

He was introduced by his best friend and collaborator Sean Kingston before lighting the stage with a smoke filled set.

Dressed in all white, the singer walked from side to side of the stage lighting a string of lights.

Justin had tweeted earlier in the week about his excitement at performing Sunday night.

He said: 'AMA blocking rehearsal. @dankanter is here. sounds like fun.'

Dan Kanter, who is Justin's musical director, also tweeted: 'AMA rehearsal. JB is killing it! Just wait until you all see him tomorrow night!!!'

Bieber missed out on the Best Pop/Rock Male Artist of the Year Award to Bruno Mars.

However, the superstar took the news graciously and said on Twitter: 'Happy for my dude @brunomars - couldnt have gone to a better guy. well deserved. and @taylorswift13 and @NiCKiMiNaj CONGRATS Ladies! (sic).'

LMFAO closed the ceremony with a medley of Party Rock Anthem and Sexy And I Know It and brought out Justin half way through their performance.

All white: Selena was feeling tired after the event and the pair headed back to their hotel


As the crowd screamed, Bieber bounced on to stage and shuffled dressed in a pair of LMFAO's trademark Zubaz pants.

Wearing the yellow trousers and a sleeveless shirt with Sexy written on it the teen sensation did his dance and then ran off stage.

At the end of the night Selena and Justin jumped back into their vintage Packard Super 8 and a tired looking Gomez rested her head on Justin's shoulder.

The Baby Baby singer gave his girlfriend his tuxedo jacket to wear as she started to feel the cold and the pair were chauffeur driven back to their hotel.

Curvy Christina Aguilera hits another bum fashion note as she spills out of her bandage dress

A cry for help?: Singer Christina Aguilera seemed to be squeezed to the point of discomfort in her tight bandage-style dress as she performed tonight


It's supposed to hold you in - but it seems Christina Aguilera's bandage dress was somewhat challenged as she appeared onstage last night.

Miss Aguilera continued with her recent streak of fashion disasters at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles.

The Voice star bulged out of her bandage-style silver dress while performing the smash hit single Moves Like Jagger with Maroon 5.


The figure hugging mini-dress was a little on the small, short and tight side for her curvier figure, but she didn't seem to mind as she flaunted it in all it's glory.

As she was raised onto the stage mid-song on a glittery silver podium, Christina looked significantly heavier than the size four she has claimed to be.

And her protruding belly sparked a flurry of speculation online as to whether the singer was pregnant again.

Her hair, which she wore in long curls, was heavily bleached and she finished off the brassy look with silver sequinned peep-toe platforms and glittery eye-shadow.

Kelly Osbourne recently took great pleasure in criticising Aguilera for her weight gain on the E! show Fashion Police.

Osbourne was criticising Aguilera's appearance at the Michael Jackson tribute concert where the singer appeared on stage wearing clownish make-up, ratty hair and was dressed in an unflattering bodysuit with fishnet tights.

The 29-year-old performed a jazzed up version of her single Mr Know-It-All off her new album Stronger surrounded by thirties-themed paparazzi dancers.

Trying to make someone jealous? Jennifer Lopez's new toyboy dancer joins her on stage for raunchy routine at AMAs

If Jennifer Lopez wanted to steal the show at the American Music Award's she certainly succeeded.

There was a stellar line-up of stars at the event including, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and Katy Perry.

But it was Jennifer's raunchy rendition of On The Floor which proved the hot topic of conversation tonight, which was particularly notable because she took to the stage with new beau Casper Smart.

Over the top? Jennifer Lopez stipped off midway through her performance and grinded up to rapper Pitbull on the stage at the AMA's tonight


She seemed to be trying to make someone jealous as she performed a kinky act that reached its climax when she stuck her famous rear in rapper Pitbull's crotch.

Not only was she dressed in an extremely provocative ensemble which consisted of a sheer catsuit covered in crystals which showed plenty of flesh, but she also was more than happy to grind up against the performer.

Given that Pitbull was later to take to the stage with her estranged husband Marc Anthony her overtly sexual show could have been considered a little inappropriate.

If her performance wasn't enough to make even the most level headed ex jealous she also took to the stage with her new beau Casper, who danced next to her topless.

And it seems the dancer was pleased with their performance and tweeted: 'Just killlllled the show with @JLo at the #AMAs2011!!!!'

Jennifer arrived on stage in a long flowing gown and it appeared she couldn't remember her words.

But it proved to be just an act and she quickly broke out into her famous dance track and whipped off her dres in the process.

The elaborate performance which saw her flung around the stage by performers on stage also included a bizarre spot of promotion for one of her current campaigns.

At one point she was seen jumping into a Fiat 500, a car she is currently promoting in the States.

A sequence was shown which saw her driving through the streets in the vehicle, which leaves her open to obvious criticism she has sold out.

All change: But she had soon stripped down to skimpy body tights and began to indulge in a provocative dance routine


But that soon changed, and she had soon cast off the dress and was strutting around the stage in a revealing body stocking.

The 42-year-old, who seems to be taking a leaf out of aging pop icon Madonna's book on concert performance, then indulged in a filthy performance where she writhed around the stage with her troupe of dancers.

She was even swinging around with the aid of her backing gang.

But she had saved her naughtiest moment for when Cuban-American rapper Pitbull joined her.

As he spat out verses she held onto a staff and provocatively thrust and rubbed her rear in his crotch area.

The bad boy star certainly seemed to enjoy taking part in the performance alongside the Jenny From The Block singer.

Sugar cane: Jennifer looked remarkably sprightly for someone who makes use of a walking stick

Less racy: But there are not many people who will remember the outfit from Jennifer's second performance


Later on she sang again in a far more demure outfit, but there are not many people who will remember that performance

Quite how her estranged husband Marc Anthony felt when he watched the performance is anyone's guess.

But it not seem to be on his mind when he performed with the Florida native soon after.

In fact the pair seemed like the best of chums as they performed together soon after.

All is forgiven? Marc Anthony did not seem to bothered by Pitbull's previous theatrics but he could have been keeping calm for the cameras


However the Latin singing sensation's blood could have been secretly boiling, and he did not want to cause a scene in front of the world's media.

In fact Marc seemed more than happy to be performing with Pitbull and was seen patting him on the back as they performed around with scantily clad dancers.
