Emmy Awards 2011: Gwyneth Paltrow wins for most daring dress as she puts her toned tummy on show

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Sheer daring: Gwyneth Paltrow arrived at the Emmy Awards in LA today wearing a Pucci dress and Neil Lane jewellery

She works hard to keep in shape, and Gwyneth Paltrow certainly wasn't going to miss an opportunity to flaunt the results.

The 38-year-old put her toned and trim stomach on show in a daring Pucci dress as she arrived at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the Emmy Awards.

Paltrow topped off her dress with platinum earrings by Neil Lane that boasted 7 carats of black-and-white diamonds, two platinum and diamond bracelets with a total of 100 carats, and a platinum ring with 5 carats of diamonds and black onyx.

Toned and terrific: The actress and fitness fanatic was eager to show off the results of her work outs

She had been quick to choose the number, telling E! News host Ryan Seacrest: 'I tried on two dresses and I picked this one.'

But it seems the frock, which featured a sheer panel across the midriff, was even more revealing than she thought.

As she stood under the bright lights on the red carpet, she added: 'It's a little see-through, I'm realising.'

And the winner is: The actress presented the gong for best comedy series to Modern Family

But the look was still admired by many, including Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler who joked: 'I can't stand next to her too long. She looks too good.'

Paltrow earned herself a win even before the ceremony even began.

She took home a gong at the the Creative Arts Emmys on September 11 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Holly Holiday in Glee.

At tonight's ceremony, she presented the award for best comedy series to Modern Family.

All aboard the mothership! Pregnant Beyonce invites best friend Gwyneth Paltrow on luxury yacht

By Jade Watkins

She was front row and centre to watch her perform at Glastonbury back in June.

And once again Gwyneth Paltrow was right by her pregnant pal Beyonce's side as she celebrated her 30th birthday in Venice, Italy, today.

The pair were seen chatting on the deck of a luxury yacht, along with the singer's husband and the father of her first child, Jay Z.

Swapping notes? Mother-of-two and close friend Gwyneth Paltrow joined Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z on a luxury yacht in Venice, Italy, today, as the singer continued to celebrate her 30th birthday

Gwyneth, 38, appeared to have had handed over what looked to be a birthday card to her close friend.

The two certainly have plenty to catch up on, especially since Beyonce announced her pregnancy just last week.

And Gwyneth, who is mother to two children daughter Apple, six, and Moses, five, will surely have some good advice for her close friend as she gets ready for motherhood for the very first time.

Gwyneth is in Venice to promote her new movie Contagion, alongside co-star Matt Damon.

Last night, she looked dewy and youthful in a blush pink organza gown, clutch and platform heels, all by Prada.

Taking a moment: Earlier in the day Beyonce was spotted taking a moment to tenderly cradle her baby bump as she enjoyed a refreshing juice

Today for her party, Beyonce was also joined by other friends, including singer Erykah Badu, on the plush vessel to celebrate her Beyonce's big day.

Earlier in the day, the superstar was relaxing solo with her husband, spending some time soaking up the sun on the top deck.

She was later spotted taking a moment to tenderly cradle her baby bump as she enjoyed a refreshing juice.

She slipped her pregnancy figure into what appeared to be a pair of loose fitting white trousers and a navy vest.

Beyonce has been having a relaxing time in the romantic Italian city after she and her 41-year-old husband arrived there last week.

Ahoy there! The group are staying aboard this luxury boat

Over the weekend, the pair were also seen out in the romantic city of Venice enjoying a dinner date.

It is the first time that Beyonce had been pictured since she announced she is pregnant at last Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer looked radiant and happy as she left her hotel with her husband protectively by her side.

Her burgeoning bump could be seen underneath her maxi patterned dress which had gold embroidered halter straps and Beyoncé looked positively glowing.

Beyoncé debuted her baby bump in an orange Lanvin gown and told the assembled press: 'I have a surprise!' at the MTV Video Music Awards, late last month.

And the singer didn't let her pregnancy prevent her from bringing the house down with an energetic performance.

She was cheered on Jay-Z, who performed new single Otis with Kanye West, before taking to the stage herself.

Arriving onstage in a purple glittery blazer and black trousers by Dolce & Gabbana, the mother-to-be said: 'I want you to feel the love that's growing inside of me.'

After a fabulous performance of Love On Top that attracted a standing ovation from the audience, Beyoncé ripped open her jacket and proudly rubbed her baby bump.

The cameras panned to the audience where Jay-Z was beaming, as his friend Kanye jumped up and down, smacking the father-to-be on the back and shaking him.

The announcement comes after a stellar summer for the Grammy-winner in which she headlined Glastonbury and released another hit album, 4.

Beyoncé, who has won 16 Grammy awards, said in a recent interview that she feels she has achieved enough in her career to settle down and make family a priority.

'When you're young - 18 or 19 - you have the energy and drive. That's the time to work as hard as you can,' she told the September issue of In Style.

Now I'm a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage.

'I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.'

Beyoncé married rapper Jay-Z on September 4, 2008 in New York.

Speaking to Piers Morgan in June, she hinted: 'I always said I was going to have a baby at 30. I'm 29 now.

'But I also said I was going to retire at 30. So I don't know,' she said, adding: 'I am not retiring, I tell you.'

Pressed by Morgan she said: 'Only God knows, only God knows.'

Pretty in pink: Gwyneth Paltrow is a vision in rosa at the Venice Film Festival

By LAURA SCHREFFLER

In the pink: Gwyneth Paltrow looks perfect in pink Prada during the premiere of her new film, Contagion, at the Venice International Film Festival this evening

Gwyneth Paltrow may be a married mother of two, but she still managed to look girlish this evening in a cotton candy-coloured frock.

The 38-year-old Oscar winner premiered her new film Contagion at the Venice International Film Festival alongside co-star Matt Damon.

She looked dewy and youthful in a blush pink organza gown, clutch and platform heels, all by Prada.

She finished off her ensemble with large, sun-shaped earrings from Bulgari's High Jewelry Collection.

The star kept her makeup minimal but chic: going with her 'in the pink' theme, she paired a golden-hued shadow with a strong, hot pink lip and a rose-coloured blush.

She posed beside Damon, whom she has previously starred with in The Talented Mr.

Ripley, and his wife, Luciana Barroso, also gorgeous in pink but she had gold embellishments on her gown.

Fan favourite: The Oscar winner waves to fans at the Palazzo de Cinema

The actress certainly didn't look like the victim of a terrifying global virus as she strutted down the red carpet at Venice's Palazzo de Cinema to promote her new film.

She appeared just as healthy yesterday during a photo call for the new movie as she paired another eye-catching Prada dress with a black belt.

However, while her frock at tonight's film festival was classic and vaguely reminiscent of the Ralph Lauren dress she wore to the 1999 Academy Awards.

By Chris Parsons

The future's bright: Gwyneth dazzles in the orange Prada dress for the Contagion photocall in Venice

Her latest film may cast her as the victim of a terrifying global virus, but that didn't stop Gwyneth Paltrow from looking bright and glamorous during a photocall for Contagion today.

The actress teamed an eye-catching Prada dress with a black belt during her appearance at the 68th Venice Film Festival.

The 38-year-old star dazzled in the brightly-coloured ensemble she wore for the Contagion photocall - a film where she is infected with a mystery virus which quickly causes global terror.

Helping hand: Gwyneth is helped down some steps in front of Matt Damon, her co-star in the gripping virus disaster film

Steven Soderbergh's virus disaster film premiered in Venice this week, with Gwyneth appearing alongside co-stars Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne and Jennifer Ehle at the Palazzo del Casino photocall.

Gwyneth's glamorous style was a far cry from the more natural look she showed off last weekend in New York, where she appeared make-up free to promote her new cookbook.

Contagion follows the trail of a deadly virus which starts when Gwyneth's character, Beth Emhoff, is infected at an airport, allowing the mystery illness to go global.

And Gwyneth's performance clearly won her some new fans, not least co-star Matt Damon.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, he said: 'More so than anybody I’ve ever worked with, she’s got an ability to turn it on and off.

'Like she can just be talking about anything and then when they say, ‘Rolling,’ it’s like she snaps, she just locks in, in a way that I don’t understand, because I can’t do it.

'I’ve worked with a lot of great actors and one thing that happens for me is that a great actor is so good that they pull me right in... that’s how I feel when I do a scene with her, I’m instantly brought in because she takes me there.'

She used to be such a nice girl: Gwyneth Paltrow shatters her clean cut image by dropping the C-word

By Marcus Barnes

Can C it going wrong: Gwyneth Paltrow used the c-word during an appearance on the Chelsea Handler show

Gwyneth Paltrow may have been keen to cultivate an image as a domestic goddess.

However, on chat show Chelsea Lately, she killed it off in one fell swoop.

The actress has been dismantling her clean cut, butter-wouldn't-melt public persona.

But her latest effort to break the mould may have gone too far after the actress used the much maligned c-word during an appearance to describe her grandmother on Chelsea Handler's chat show.

Scroll down to watch the video.

The 38-year-old actress was invited on the show, which goes out at 11pm every weekeday, to speak about her cookery book My Father's Daughter.

Midway through their chat Gwyneth and Chelsea came to the realisation that they both had German grandmothers who were mean, and with the same first name.

After Chelsea, 36, said her relative was "a real bitch", Gwyneth retorted: 'Mine was a real c***'.

The word was bleeped out but eagle-eyed viewers will still be able to lip read and work out what she'd said and the reaction of those around her was a testament to that.

After the actress dropped the C-word, Chelsea recoiled with laughter and the audience broke out into a round of cheers and applause.

You've changed: The actress also explained her change in lifestyle giving up on eating healthy when she was pregnant with daughter Apple

When they died down Gwyneth went on to explain that her 'Mutti', her mother's mum, was full of spite.

Gwyneth said: 'She just hated my guts, basically, and she tried to poison my mother against me.'

'She must not have been very happy and she must have had a lot of pain because she was as mean as hell.'

During the chat Gwyneth also explained why she kicked her macrobiotic diet to adopt a more 'normal' approach to eating.

She cited her late father Bruce Paltrow's battle with cancer as inspiring her to eat healthier.

Family: Gwyneth with her late father Bruce Paltrow and mother Blythe Danner in 2002

Gwyneth told Chelsea: 'The reason why I started eating healthy was because I was trying to get my dad to eat healthy when he was diagnosed with cancer.

'He was disgusted by all my health food, he was like "This is disgusting, this is like biting into cardboard, I hate this food".

'I was trying to get him to cure his cancer by eating and I got into eating healthy too. Then, when I got pregnant with Apple, I could not eat any healthy food I was like Baskin Robbins, french fries and I never looked back.'

In recent months Gwyneth has been chipping away at her holier-than-thou image and putting herself out there - proving to be a lot more fun and edgy than it may have seemed.

Gwynning formula: The actress' recent forays into singing and comedy have shown a whole new side to her

She's tried her hand at singing and comedy, with appearances in U.S. musical smash Glee - as well as working with Cee Lo Green and recording her own album.

At the Oscars she was asked who she'd like to work with, and she answered Jay-Z, explaining: 'I think we’d be a good combination. He is a genius — and I’m his biggest fan.'

And, in a possible attempt to prove she's got the necessary skills to collaborate with the rap mogul, Gwyneth had a go at rapping on the Ellen Degeneres Show last week.

She rhymed along to the infamous track Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot while shaking her backside.

And it was all Yellow: Gwyneth Paltrow pays a fashion tribute to husband Chris Martin's hit song at her recipe book signing

By Georgina Littlejohn

The good wife: Gwyneth Paltrow paid tribute to husband Chris Martin's song Yellow in a pretty satin dress at a signing for her cook book in Los Angeles yesterday

It was the breakthrough song that shot Coldplay to fame and fortune as Chris Martin crooned about unrequited love.

So it was only fitting that the love of his life should pay tribute to her pop star husband by wearing the colour that put him on the music map.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a pretty yellow satin dress as she held a signing for her new recipe book in Los Angeles yesterday.

The below-the-knee dress, which she teamed with Rachel Roy shoes, clung to her curves as she posed for the cameras at the Williams-Sonoma kitchenware store in Beverly Hills.

The book is called My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness.

It includes her favourite family recipes and she shares personal stories of her father Bruce, who died in 2002 and inspired her to cook.

Canary chic: The dress clung to Gwyneth's slender figure and the bright colour suited her skin tone and blonde hair

Gwyneth also explained why cooking is really important to her and said: 'I think the importance of eating together as a family and making homemade food that is nourishing and good for you.

'My dad used to really talk to us when we ate dinner and see what we thought about things, and now I use that opportunity to do the same.'

Actress-turned-author: Gwyneth is surrounded by copies of her cook book as she sat down to sign some for fans

She spent two hours signing books and meeting fans who had patiently queued in the store to meet her.

Last week, she appeared on US chat show Rachael Ray, she said she encourages her children to get involved in the kitchen too.

The 38-year-old also revealed that her young son Moses could be a budding chef in the making.

Sharing the culinary love: Gwyneth proudly holds up a copy of her book with recipes inspired by her late father Bruce

She said: 'My five-year-old can crack an egg like nobody’s business. You could give him a dozen eggs. It’s like… no shell in there, it’s perfect, clean and perfect every time.'

Coldplay had their first hit song with Yellow on 2000, two years before front man Martin met the Oscar-winner.

It appeared on their debut album Parachutes and also gave the band their first top ten hit in the UK and the US.

Gwyneth Paltrow cries as she reveals hidden family tragedy on U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are

By Daily Mail Reporter

Gwyneth Paltrow cried as she discovered the moving past of her family in the U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are

Gwyneth Paltrow was moved as she found out one of her ancestors was a revered rabbi said to have stopped a fire from consuming a village.

Appearing on the U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are, the actress, who is married to British rocker Chris Martin, travelled to Barbados to find out about her heritage.

First she looked into her mother's side of the family and stories that her great grandmother was born on the Caribbean island.

Moved: The actress cried as she found out one of her ancestors was a revered Rabbi, said to have stopped a fire from consuming a village

But it turned out it was her great grandmother who was born there - and left for New York at 18 on a commercial boat with her sister in search for a better life.

Speaking to a historian in Barbados, she found out Rosamund Stout was orphaned at 13 and was then probably affected by the emancipation of the black population in the island in the late 19th century.

As a seamstress, her job would have been affected by young black women willing to do it for a lower wage.

Looking back: A picture of Gwyneth's great great grandfather Simon

There were also more women than men on the island, so there would have been competition for a husband, Paltrow was told.

'I think it was very brave of her to leave with her sister and I really like that. sense of "I can make something of my life",' she said.

'I have the same self-belief and I've always credited that to my father.'

Search: Gwyneth's search took her to Barbados where she found her great grandmother Rosamund Stout was orphaned at 13 and emigrated to New York

Paltrow then decided to look into the mother of her grandfather Buster, who was said to have been uncaring and even mentally unstable.

She found out that his mother Ida had a bright future as a teacher until she was mysteriously kicked out of college.

It emerged that the same year she lost both her mother - to cirrhosis of the liver - and her brother.

Other records showed that one of her daughters died aged three, run over by a wagon, while she was pregnant with another child.

'I can only imagine it's the loss of her daughter that really spun her out, then the hormones of having the baby right away while being in the depths of depression of the loss of a child really made her incapable of caring for them.

'I wish I could share this information with my grandfather. He didn't have any compassion for her at all and maybe this would have changed that.'

Tragedy: Gwyneth's great grandmother Ida's daughter died aged three, run over by a wagon, while she was pregnant with another child

But the most emotional revelations came from her father's side of the family.

Paltrow looked into stories that her great-great-granddad Simon Paltrovich was a rabbi.

She found out his father was also a rabbi - and according to a memorial book by Holocaust survivors from his Polish community, he had incredible powers.

The book said he was 'a great holy man and master of Kabbalah' and told of a fire that erupted in the town and was heading towards the Jewish neighbourhood.

Reading from a translation, Paltrow said the rabbi 'went out to the balcony of his house, waved his handkerchief towards the fire and the fire was extinguished.'

No compassion: A young Gwyneth and her gradfather Buster, who knew nothing of his mother's traumatic past

The actress, who also studies Kabbalah, said: 'This is all blowing my mind.'

She also found a book written by her great-great grandfather that was lovingly dedicated to his father.

'We have a long line of people loving their fathers in my family,' she said.

'It's funny because you have these like echoes of your own relationships. It's amazing to see so many parallels that keep coming together.'

She added: 'I've come to understand all these pieces of myself and that's very impactful to me.'

Why is Gwyneth trying to reinvent herself as a country music star?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Singing sensation? Gwyneth Paltrow reminds us that she's now a music star in a new rock-inspired photoshoot

She's an Oscar-winning actress, mother, runs a lifestyle blog and has released her own cookbook.

Most would say Gwyneth Paltrow is quite the over-achiever. So why is the 38-year-old moving in on husband Coldplay rocker Chris Martin's turf?

After a film about a country music singer and two appearances on Glee, Gwyneth appears to have been bitten by the music bug... and she's just revealed she's in talks to sign a record deal.

And in case anyone was still unsure that she is now a rock star, Gwyneth has posed amongst guitars, a keyboard and old records in a new photoshoot.

The actress is interviewed by her good friend Faith Hill for the new issue of InStyle magazine, and talks about performing onstage with her pal Jay-Z, dance parties at her and Martin's London home, and ditching London for Nashville.

Gwyneth got to know Faith, 43, while working on Country Strong with Tim McGraw, the singer's husband. 'We've been friends for a year,' Gwyneth says of the country music star. 'But now we're soul mates.'

Country Strong: After starring in her new film as a country music singer, Gwyneth is in talks to sign a recording contract

While Miss Paltrow and her children Apple, six, and Moses, four, spent many nights at the Hill-McGraw household during filming in Tennessee, Faith was keen to know what goes on in Gwyneth's abode across the pond.

'I like having dance parties at my house and being super-goofy with my girlfriends,' Gwyneth says.

'We just play dance music like whatever is on the radio and then old stuff - Michael Jackson, disco - and new stuff; we mix it up. It's fun.'

'What's a typical Saturday night at the Paltrow-Martin house?' Hill asks.

'Well, last Saturday night, I made turkey meatballs and we all had dinner together, then put the kids to bed and watched a movie on Apple TV,' is Paltrow's reply.

'We always go out one night of the weekend, because it's nice for me to get out of the house. I cook so much during the week, it's good for me to have a break and eat something that I don't make, like sashimi or Indian food.'

And while Gwyneth and Chris, 34, make their home in London during the school year, Gwyneth reveals that she longs for her native America - and that she felt right at home in Nashville.

'I loved it. There's something about it here - it is so relaxing and everybody is so kind and I just loved it,' she tells Faith in the candid interview. 'Cut to me moving into your house.'

The Iron Man star was so enamoured with the music capital that she devoted two articles on her lifestyle blog GOOP to the city.

'London is great, but I miss America,' she adds. 'Nowadays, I feel like we're citizens of everywhere.'

Music aspirations: The actress, pictured on this week's episode of Glee, talks about 'dance parties' at her London home with Chris Martin and performing onstage with Jay-Z

Gwyneth, who took to the stage at the recent Grammys and Oscars, also reminisces about performing onstage with her good friend Jay-Z.

She says: 'I got onstage with him at the Royal Albert Hall [in 2006]. I stood in the back and sang with him. That was the night of my 34th birthday and I drank a bunch of champagne before going on just to get through it.

'It was also before I had any singing lessons. I was sooo nervous, but that was just for fun. I'm glad I did it.'

The full interview appears in the new issue of InStyle, on sale now.

Moving in on her husband's turf: The 38-year-old is the new music star of the Paltrow-Martin clan, after performances at the CMA (left), Grammy, and Academy Awards (right) ceremonies in recent months
