She acts, she models and she can drive from the back seat of a car: Emma Watson lends a helping hand to a fumbling friend

By SARAH FITZMAURICE

Helping hand: Emma Watson was seen helping her friend drive her car as she sat in the back seat after leaving a premiere on Monday

She is one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses and in-demand models of the moment but it appears that Emma Watson can also drive a car from its back seat.

The Harry Potter star was seen directing from her seat in the back of the car as she and two friends left The Change Up premiere.

And it seems that Emma was in great spirits as she appeared to manoeuvre her friend’s gear stick and stretched her hand out towards the steering wheel.

Used to the attention: While Emma is no stranger to photographers her friend seemed put off and, to her amusement, needed help to work the hybrid car

Emma, who has said goodbye to her role as Hermoine Grainger after the final Harry Potter film was released last month, is no stranger to attention from snappers.

But her friend appeared to be extremely put off by the photographers and was left needing directions from his friend on how to use her hybrid car.

Emma had attended the film screening at the Landmark Theatre on Monday night which had seen stars Ryan Reynolds accompanied by his good friend Sandra Bullock, Olivia Wilde and Jason Bateman walked the red carpet.

Time to potter: Moviestar and fashionista Emma Watson enjoys break between commitments while trying to tame awkward haircut

By ALANAH ERIKSEN

Happy for some free time: Emma Watson smiled as she dined with friends at a cafe in Santa Monica

It's an awkward time that a lot of women can identify with - when your hair is too short to tie in a ponytail but still long enough to get in the way.

Millionaire Harry Potter star Emma Watson proved she was human after all as she flicked her hair out of her eyes on the streets of Los Angeles yesterday.

The 21-year-old first appeared on the big screen as a long-haired Hermione Granger in 2003.

She kept the trademark brunette tresses throughout the eight instalments before chopping her locks into a pixie-style cut last year.

Stylish star: Emma looked relaxed in a floaty skirt and striped t-shirt

She sported a slicked back style at the world premiere for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in Trafalgar Square last month.

But she now appears to be growing a bob, having not had a haircut for months.

Emma was seen yesterday enjoying some time off as she dining with friends at a cafe in Santa Monica before happily strolling around the beachfront city.

Ever-changing: Emma arrived on our screens as long-haired Hermione Granger (right) but chopped her tresses for a pixie bob last year and was seen at the London Harry Potter premiere last month with a slick style

She appeared fresh-faced, wearing a blue and cream scarf over a stripped t-shirt and floaty white skirt.

She added brown sandals, a white purse and a pair of dark Ray Ban-style sunglasses, similar to those seen on several celebrities this summer.

Despite the movie franchise which made her famous coming to an end, Emma still has a string of work commitments

From English Rose to glamourpuss: Emma Watson sports bright red lipstick and smokey eyes as she flirts with male actor in new perfume advert for Lancô

By Daily Mail Reporter

Classic beauty: Emma Watson ditches her English Rose look for something a little edgier in new Lancôme Trésor Midnight Rose Perfume advert

She may have put the magical Harry Potter franchise behind her now, but it seems Emma Watson still has the magic touch.

Ditching her classic English Rose chic for a slightly edgier look, the 21-year-old appeared to have won the affections of her male co-star in a new advert.

The award-winning actress used her charm on French actor Cyril Descours while filming a campaign for Lancôme Trésor Midnight Rose perfume.

Flirtatious: Emma teases her male model, whose profile is reminiscent of Nick Jones, with a hat

Emma was spotted shooting the scenes in Paris back in March, with the final edit being released now.

Despite looking immaculate while the cameras were rolling, Emma chomped on chicken kebabs during the break - proving not all A-list stars deprive themselves for their size zero frames.

The former child star, who is the face of the brand, confessed she wasn't much of a fragrance connoisseur before joining the project.

She said: 'I didn't really like perfumes before because I thought they were heavy, but this one is really light and playful.

'I feel lucky to embody a fragrance I am so crazy in love with.'

Smelling of roses: Emma shoots a mysterious glance at the mystery man

Watson follows in the footsteps of Hollywood stars Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz who fronted advertising campaigns for the French company in the past.

The brunette beauty raved about her wonderful time in France, tweeting to her one million followers: 'Had such an amazing time in Paris with Lancome!

'Soon to start filming Perks of Being a Wallflower - can't wait! Hope everyone's ok xx'

The new production will see Emma sidestep away from the JK Rowling series with a more series role.

The story follows Charlie, a high-school freshman, who is struggling to cope with mental issues.

He is introduced to the world of sex and drugs by friends, Sam - played by Watson - and Patrick.

Don't you know who I am? Emma Watson struggles to hail a cab during a shopping trip with friends

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Take me! Emma Watson struggled to hail a cab on a busy New York City street today

She has just finished promoting one of the biggest upcoming movies and is one of the most recognised faces in the world.

But it appears that Emma Watson's famous face didn't work in her favour today, as she struggled to hail a cab on a busy New York street.

The 21-year-old Harry Potter spent some time on the road chatting to a taxi driver, trying to explain which direction she was travelling in, but he turned her down because he was off-duty.

'But it's just up the road!' The 21-year-old Harry Potter spent some time on the road chatting to a taxi driver, trying to explain which direction she was travelling in

Perhaps it was the actress' dress down attire that didn't catch the cabbies eye, to perhaps make an exception for the star.

Emma has spent the last few weeks in an array of stunning designer dresses, but today the she opted for some more low-key casual attire as she takes a well earned break from the spotlight.

The elfin beauty slipped into a pair of skinny legs jeans, a baggy grey sweater and some flats for her outing in the Big Apple.

On the go: Emma raced around the city, enjoying spending some much deserved time off

She accessorised with a cream satchel and some fifties style shades and slicked her short brunette crop back with a headband.

Earlier in the day, she was out shopping with friends at stores including British favourites All Saints and Topshop.

They also stopped by a street stall to look at some jewels.

Emma, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were joined by other stars of the film including Tom Felton and Alan Rickman, and celebrity guests Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick and Seth Green at the event.

Of her dramatic gown, Emma said: 'New York is such a fashion capital, I felt I could push the envelope a bit. With London I went a bit more classic (in her fairytale Oscar de la Renta dress) but for today I wanted to do something edgier.'

The 21-year-old wore her gamine crop slicked and looked very grown up in elaborate gold leaf eye make-up.

Earlier in the day, she slipped into a glittering minidress for an appearance on The David Letterman Show.

On the show, Letterman grilled the young actress, especially about her co-star Daniel Radcliffe's recent admissions about drinking.

The fellow Harry Potter star recently shocked his fans with an admission that he's sober after struggling with an addiction to alcohol.

In an interview with GQ, Emma admitted he had become reliant on drink to help him cope with life in the spotlight.

By Georgina Littlejohn

What would Hermione say? Emma Watson hits the dancefloor and boogies away her blues at Harry Potter party

She got very teary as she said a fond goodbye to the last ten years of her life at the premiere for the last ever Harry Potter film.

So it's hardly surprising that Emma Watson wanted to let off some emotional steam after it was all over.

The actress, who has played Hermione Granger since 2001, was snapped throwing some serious shapes on the dance floor at the London premiere after-party last week.

Sparkling in the centre of the crowd in her short Elie Saab frock, the 21-year-old danced away with her friends by her side.

She looked as though she didn't have a care in the world, possibly expressing some relief that one of the hardest nights over her life had reached its climax.

She was the centre of attention as she strutted her stuff at the party which took place at the Old Billingsgate Market in London.

Earlier in the evening, she and her co-stars - who she said she considers her family - Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe, were all hit with emotion as they paid tribute to the final film.

But it was Miss Watson who welled up as she and her co-stars thanked fans and each other for an amazing experience.

Emma said: ‘It’s overwhelming to try to find the words to say what I want to say, but I have been so privileged to play this role and be a part of these films.

The end is nigh: Watson filmed an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday afternoon ahead of the New York premiere of Harry Potter

‘I’ve had the most amazing 10 years of my life. Thank you so much.’

In fact, she was so overcome with emotion that she not only made author J.K Rowling cry but the film’s producer David Heyman had to offer her his shoulder to cry on.

Emma started the night in a floor-length tiered Oscar De La Renta gown with a matching Boodles round diamond ‘Chakra’ platinum ring worth a cool £95,000.

Leaving London: After a short stay in the U.K. Emma headed to Heathrow after leaving her hotel earlier today

It had certainly been a night of mixed emotions for the starlet who was seen crying and laughing throughout the evening.

From teen queen to fashionista: Emma Watson goes all grown-up in glossy magazine shoot

By Emily Sheridan

Ethereal: Emma Watson strikes a pose in an earthy shoot for the new August issue of the UK edition of Harper's Bazaar

In the run-up to the world premiere of the final Harry Potter film, Emma Watson had been reaching her target audience with a string of interviews with teenage magazines.

But as she prepares to make the move from child actor to adult film star after closing the book on her Potter character Hermione, it looks like the actress is determined to show her grown-up side.

The 21-year-old is dripping in the latest designer creations from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent to Emilio Pucci in the new issue of Harper's Bazaar UK.

In contrasting images, a fair-haired Watson poses in a field of wild flowers wearing white couture, while in other shoots her hair appears

As well as modelling some key looks from the upcoming autumn/winter collection from some of the world's top fashion houses, Watson also opens up on why really she left America's Brown University.

She tells the August issue of the magazine: 'Leaving Brown had nothing to do with bullying, as the media have been suggesting recently.

Racy: Watson goes for a bad girl look in a sheer black dress and dark brown hair

'I have never been bullied in my life. Like a lot of other students at Brown, I might spend my third year abroad.'

Although Watson is still musing over where to complete her studies, it appears her native England is unlikely to be an option.

When asked why she didn't originally chose an English university, Watson explained: 'I felt suddenly very claustrophobic...I thought, "I can’t stay here, I won’t be able to concentrate, I won’t be left alone."'

Since enrolling at university, Watson has been taking acting classes and admitted she was struggling to unleash her inner bad girl.

Well heeled: Watson strikes a vampy pose as she models a sheer black panelled dress

She said: 'My acting tutor said the hardest thing for me was to get angry. I almost broke down in tears when they tried to get me to be angry. I said, "I can’t do it, I just can’t do it."

'I keep all of that really bottled up somewhere and I feel unleashing it would be the scariest thing – and to let myself be powerful, sexy, all those things, it’s scary for me. [Even playing the bad girl in this shoot] felt a bit uncomfortable and awkward, it didn’t come naturally at all.'

While Watson is hoping to continue her acting career, she admits she finds Hollywood petrifying.

She admitted: 'LA scares the c**p out of me.

'I feel if I have to work out four hours a day, and count the calories of everything I put in my mouth, and have Botox at 22, and obsess about how I look the whole time, I will go mad, I will absolutely lose it.'

Watson is scheduled to attend the world premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II in London's Trafalgar Square next Thursday.
