The internet rumour mill has gone into overdrive today with reports that Beyoncé has given birth to a baby girl.

According to reports- which neither the singer herself nor husband Jay-Z have confirmed- Beyoncé has named her daughter Tiana May Carter.

The Single Ladies star is said to have delivered her first child at at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, a private facility in New York.

Her representation - both in the US and the UK- has not been available for comment this afternoon.

A story published yesterday by MediaTakeOut.com claimed that nurses at the hospital were 'buzzing' at the news that they might be expecting Beyoncé and Jay Z.
The hospital has made no official comment.

The baby suite apparently reserved by Beyoné and Jay Z is reportedly equipped to deliver three babies and sleep 12 people.

Friend and fellow singer Alicia Keys gave birth to her son Egypt at the same hospital back in 2010.

Twitter has been abuzz with gossip and congratulations in relation to the birth rumours.

Director and choreographer Adam Shankman tweeted: 'Not meaning to start anything...but...did Beyonce have her baby?!? Just heard a bit on the radio... Is it true?'

Some are treating the news as certain, and have offered their blessing.

One user wrote: 'Congrats to Beyonce & Jay Z on new baby girl Tiana-May Carter.'

Unconfirmed: Neither Beyoncé nor husband Jay Z has responded to the reports so far


Others have taken issue with the star's apparent choice of name, with one fan posting: 'I love BK and Jay, but Tiana May???'

Beyoncé has still never tweeted from her own account, which boasts 2,259,656 followers.

The report that she has given birth has been picked up by The Mirror, Huffington Post, The Hollywood Reporter, Yahoo, Music News.com, and Allhiphop.com among others.

Beyoncé has spent the bulk of the last few months in New York, which is understandable if she has been expecting her new arrival around the New Year.

The appearance of the Beyoncé's mother Tina, 57, sister Solange, 25, and nephew Julez in the city in recent days has added weight to the reports that the birth was imminent.

Designer Tina and sister Solange were spotted leaving vintage store Stella Dallas in New York City this week.

Beyoncé lives in a multi-million pound penthouse apartment in the city with rapper husband Jay Z.

Though initially there was suggestion that the singer was due in early February, more recently it was indicated that she would be reaching the nine month mark around the New Year.

The star concealed her pregnancy for months before revealing her baby bump at the MTV Music Awards in August.

In October the singer sparked rumours that she was wearing a prosthetic belly after her stomach appeared to collapse as she sat down during a live TV appearance in Australia.

She said of her decision to announce her pregnancy at the MTV awards: 'Physically I was starting to show, so it was only a matter of days before someone zoomed in. So I just wanted it to be from me.

'I wanted it to be something that was a celebration of something so beautiful.'

The singer lives in a multi-million pound penthouse apartment in the city with rapper husband Jay Z.

It is thought the 30-year-old singer and husband Jay Z could be welcoming a child as early as today according to MediaTakeOut.com.

The website reports that the half the floor of the hospital’s Labor and Delivery Suite has been booked by the singer, although the hospital has not confirmed the claims.

Beyoncé is thought to have reached the nine month mark in her pregnancy.

Speaking at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards 2011 in London, Kelly added about the baby: 'She won't be spoiled but she will be very well looked after.

'I'll be on hand for babysitting duties and I'm actually very good with messy diapers!'

She was yesterday spotted out in New York looking positively glowing in loose white top, black leggings and black lace up boots.

The pair made the most of the warm weather as they stepped out in Tribeca before grabbing some lunch at Italian restaurant Locanda Verde.

However, according to recent reports, Beyoncé's order may have baffled waiters at the taverna, because she is said to be having strange pregnancy cravings in recent weeks.

But millionaire singer Beyonce showed how down-to-earth she is as she popped into London's iconic department store Selfridges for a quick browse this afternoon.

Accompanied by her mother Tina Knowles and an entourage of minders, the 29-year-old headed straight for her favourite department - ladies' shoes.


Fellow shoppers were left gawking at the singer, who made an arresting appearance in a bright orange dress.

Beyonce and Tina checked out several pairs of leather, studded high heels during their 30-minute shopping session, but left without buying anything.

Although she was surrounded by heavy security, the singer did make a few fans' day by saying hello to them.

During her visits to London over the years, Beyonce regularly visits Selfridges for both shopping and promoting sessions.

The former Destiny's Child star returned to London today following her performance at the T In The Park festival in Kinross, Scotland, over the weekend.

'She had Portakabins and a tent with flowers and nice furnishings to make it homely. They were from a proper florist and a nice arrangement.'
