She was the ultimate party girl in the 1990s.

And it appears Tara Palmer-Tomkinson obviously has no plans to slow down has she hits her 40s.

The socialite celebrated turning big four-o a few days early with a boozy bash at the Brompton Club in South Kensington, west London, last night.


She looked a little worse for wear as she left the venue, barely able to keep her eyes open.

She almost fell over several times as she stood on the bottom of her dress.
Friends had to hold on to the former 'it girl's' presents as she was in no state to do so herself.

She started off so well: Tara smiled and posed for the cameras at the start of the night, before coming out of the club and tripping on her dress


Tara was helped into a taxi and once sitting inside, wrapped her arms around the neck of a male friend.

He attempted to protect her modesty as he dress rode up.

She eventually collapsed onto her knees and fell asleep.

Tara, who turns 40 on Friday, was dressed to the nines for the party in an on-trend mullet dress.

The black number was clinched at the waist with a belt and had sparkly embellishments on the bodice.

Her hair was pulled back into a messy bun - which got messier as the night progressed.

Tara, whose family are friends with Prince Charles, recently revealed she was 'really proud' to the Royal Wedding in April.

'There was a lot of pressure on everyone - guests included - to make the day perfect for Will and Kate, and I'm just so proud to have been a part of it all.'
She admits she struggled to hold back tears when she saw the romantic vows.

Writing for Marie Claire, she said: 'When it came to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, William placed my family - all nine of us - at the front so we could see everything.

'I managed to control my tears until William and Harry arrived. And then Kate emerged. She's always been a calm person but that day she was more graceful and relaxed than I've ever seen her. '

Tara: I turned to cocaine out of jealousy of my perfect sister

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has claimed that she turned to drugs because she found it impossible to compete with her ‘angelic’ older sister.

The socialite, whose cocaine habit cost £400 a day at its worst and caused her nose to collapse, candidly revealed that she felt her role in the family was to be the ‘black sheep’.

The 39-year-old is two years younger than her novelist sister, Santa Montefiore, wife of historian Simon Sebag Montefiore.


As young girls, the pair were inseparable – both at the family home of Dummer Grange in Hampshire and boarding together at Sherborne Girls school in Dorset.

However, TV presenter Miss Palmer-Tomkinson – whose parents have been friends with Prince Charles for more than 30 years and who was a guest at the royal wedding – felt she was unable to escape from the shadows of her sister’s success.

She explained: ‘It got to the point where I just thought, “She’s already got the role as the sister who gets all the praise. I just can’t compete.”

‘Not only that, but she’d turned into this real beauty with the nickname: “The girl with the longest legs in Hampshire.”

‘So my answer was basically that if I was going to be the black sheep I wanted to be the biggest black sheep.’

The sisters lived together in London in their 20s, and Miss Palmer-Tomkinson recalled: ‘I became this night owl. As she was going out [to work], I’d be coming in from some West End club or shady lock-in, having scored [drugs] in Brixton, lost a shoe in Camden and my keys somewhere in-between.

‘It was pretty mad and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have fun, if I didn’t love that first time with cocaine. I was seduced by the whole thing.’

Miss Palmer-Tomkinson entered a rehab clinic in Arizona in 1999 and claims not to have taken drugs since.

Nonetheless, in 2006 she needed corrective surgery – costing £6,000 – because the years of drug abuse had led to her nose collapsing.

However, the reconstructed septum did not last and last month, following a temporary fix for April’s royal wedding, her septum was rebuilt again using cartilage from one of her ribs.

Six weeks after undergoing an operation to reconstruct her nose, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson is finally ready to show it off.

The former 'It girl' has regained her confidence after years of feeling insecure about her appearance.

In a refreshingly honest interview for the new issue of She magazine, the 39-year-old admitted she was 'destroyed' by the criticism she received about her previously disfigured nose.


The socialite revealed she was particularly hurt by assumptions the latest damage was due to her using drugs again, when in fact it was due to not maintaining a previous operation on her nose.

She tells the magazine: 'What hurt most is the people writing about what was actually a disfigurement on my face. It destroyed me. My confidence was wrecked.'

Although her nose was initially damaged by her former drug use, the former reality star has been clean for years and was upset when she was accused of using again.

She explained: 'When I first had my nose rebuilt in 2006, I only had three of the 12 aftercare sessions that I was meant to have. Stupidly I started to play around with fillers.

'In the first operation, they used cartilage from the ear to rebuild my nose which is quite delicate. Since then, I’ve had a series of breakages and fragmentations, and it became misshapen.'


Palmer-Tomkinson underwent a three-hour op at a Harley Street clinic on June 1, where cartilage from one of her ribs was used to rebuild the nose.

Having adjusted to her new nose, the socialite is finally rebuilding her confidence: 'I can’t tell you how wonderful I feel - like a different person.

'Before, I didn’t want to go out, I didn’t want to date. And now I want to go out, I want to date again. I feel 10 years younger. I feel really excited. I feel I’m symmetrical again - inside and out.'

Palmer-Tomkinson admitted she felt so low about her nose in the run-up to her friend Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton in April, she declined press interviews.

She said: ' I was asked to do interviews in the run-up, but when I refused they started to focus on my nose. I think people assumed the damage had come from doing more drugs. I was in the darkest place I’ve ever been.'

When she did attend the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding, she stood out in a bright blue dress and matching hat by milliner Philip Treacy.

Reflecting on the day, she said: 'I felt like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I could have chosen a veil to cover up my nose but Philip said, "We are not covering up your nose; life is about personality."'

Rather than her outfit, Royal Wedding guest Tara Palmer-Tomkinson had been highly concerned about the appearance of her nose ahead of the event.

However, the socialite, 39, appeared groomed to perfection in a brilliant kingfisher blue off-the-shoulder gown, with flowing sleeves, and matching hat and bag.

Any fears about her ravaged nose appear to have been forgotten, as she waved confidently to the crowds surrounding Westminster Abbey, for Prince William and his bride Catherine Middleton's big day.

To prepare for the wedding, Tara told the Daily Mail in February: ‘If I can get my nose fixed for the wedding that would be ideal.

Years of cocaine abuse had taken its toll on Tara’s nose some time ago and in 2006 she paid £6,000 to have it rebuilt using cartilage from an ear.

But recently she admitted that the original surgery had worn out because of ‘general wear and tear’, leaving it looking squashed and bent.

So she headed back to a cosmetic surgeon to have fillers injected to give it a straighter, more natural shape.

Her fillers are said to have cost approximately £650 with a Harley Street specialist.

And today Tara seems more than happy with the results as she made a stunning entrance to the highly anticipated event.

Yesterday the socialite was spotted leaving her house in a figure hugging tight white dress, which she accompanied with a Chanel handbag and grey heels.

And the close friend of Prince Charles showed off her newly highlighted hairdo.

Tara was joined at the event today by David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, singer Joss Stone, Guy Ritchie and Rowan Atkinson.

Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe, Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas and former England footballer Trevor Brooking will also attend.

With less than three weeks to go before the big day, it looks as though Tara Palmer-Tomkinson will have her work cut out to achieve the wedding look she craves.

The 39-year-old socialite said in February that she hoped to have a new nose in time for the ceremony.

But pictures taken last week show the nose, ravaged by years of drug abuse, has yet to be reconstructed.


It looked hopelessly squashed, drawing unflattering comparisons to a boxer who had taken a beating in the ring.

The damage is a legacy of Miss Palmer-Tomkinson’s former £400-a-day cocaine habit.
It was so bad that in 2006 she had a £6,000 operation to rebuild the area between her nostrils.

Since then her nose has bent to the right and she is still hoping to make it straight before the ceremony on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.


She revealed the Daily Mail in February: ‘If I can get my nose fixed for the wedding that would be ideal. I’m not sure it’s going to be possible but hopefully something can be done in time.’

Friends have said that she has become so self-conscious about the problem that she has taken to wearing a hat and glasses when she goes out.

Miss Palmer-Tomkinson has said: ‘I’m so paranoid about it. All I can think about is I just can’t wait to have it done. It’s something I’ve always wanted to have done but it needs a recovery time.

‘My surgeon died so I still need to find someone to do it. It’s a straight nose but it’s just got a bump in it. I’m nearly 40 years old now and I want to get it right.

‘I am not saying I’m an oil painting but of course I want to have it fixed. I don’t want to be picked on. I read somewhere last week someone said they want to vomit when they saw it.’
