Wigs factor: Kelly Rowland's secret weapon in the style war... hairpieces that even have nicknames

By Sara Nathan

With their long, glossy locks, the two new women on X Factor’s judging panel have made it clear they intend to follow Cheryl Cole’s bouffant example.

But it turns out Kelly Rowland has a secret weapon as she takes on Tulisa Contostavlos in the show’s style wars – wigs.

And the former Destiny’s Child singer is so fond of her selection of hairpieces that she has even given them nicknames, the Daily Mail has learned.

The 30-year-old’s impressive mane was much discussed by fans during Saturday night’s show, as it appeared to be different in every audition clip.

A friend said: ‘Kelly loves her wigs and they allow her to try out a different look.
‘She’s quite affectionate about them and even has names for them.

She’s ordered some more for the live shows so she can do some “up-dos”.’

‘It’s going to be the battle of the hair with Kelly and Tulisa. Dannii Minogue and Cheryl both looked so different, but Tulisa and Kelly have long manes.’

New judge Tulisa Contostavlos has been given similar Cole style brunette hair extensions, but with one lighter blonde streak at the front, giving her a chic look.

However, Miss Rowland insisted that she has no real rivalry with Tulisa, 23, describing her as a ‘wonderful, real chick.’

The former Destiny’s Child star also denied fellow judge Gary Barlow’s claim that ‘it’s costume wars every day’ on the X Factor.

From left: Sporting a long fringe on August 19, with glossy locks swept to the side on August 20 and sporting an asymmetric fringe on August 27

She told Now magazine: ‘Tulisa and I both have separate stylists - we call them and make sure we’re not wearing the same thing but that’s about it.’

She added: ‘People call me a diva because of my entourage.

‘I have two stylists, a make-up artist, an assistant and a publicist. But it’s just because I’m far from home.’

Miss Rowland will next week pick her finalists for the live shows in Miami, with her newly-pregnant best friend Beyonce Knowles to help her whittle down the hopefuls in her girls category.

Speaking about Beyonce’s pregnancy, which she revealed at the MTV Video music awards on Sunday night, she said ‘I think she’ll be an incredible mother, because she’s always been motherly.

‘She takes so many traits from her mother, and I just think it’s going to be so natural for her. It’s natural for her now!’

Miss Rowland added that she’s know about her friend’s pregnancy ‘for quite awhile’ Beyonce, 29, is expecting her first child with her husband, rapper Jay Z.

Near disaster in the America's Got Talent semi-finals as Gymkana performer is set on fire

By ANDREA MAGRATH

Dangerous: Gymkana started out well with a stunning and perfectly timed routine, but failed to impress Piers, who was booed for buzzing out the group early on in the act

It was an eventful night on round two of America's Got Talent semi-finals, between Piers Morgan getting a little too eager on the buzzer and a near-disaster during gymnastics group Gymkana's act.

The talented troupe from Maryland had the judges on their feet, gasping in horror after a ring of fire came crashing down on top of one of the performers.

The dance team started out well with a stunning and perfectly timed routine, but failed to impress Piers, who was booed for buzzing out the group early on in the act.

Accident: Then near-disaster struck, when one of the gymnasts caught the edge of the ring of fire, bringing the flames down on top of him as he crash-landed on the floor

Then near-disaster struck, when one of the gymnasts caught the edge of the ring of fire, bringing the flames down on top of him as he crash-landed on the floor.

The judges were on their feet as the young man lay on the floor on fire, while the performer who had been holding on to the ring nursed a burnt arm.

Piers was forced to defend himself for buzzing the group just seconds before the incident. 'You're every good at what you do, it was every repetitive though,' he said.

'I think as it goes as badly wrong as it just did... I feel for you you have my sympathy but obviously when you have someone lying on the floor with fire all over him, it's not a good day at the office.

Nick interrupted Piers' review, saying, 'Well personally I think you buzzing them made them nervous and maybe caused the accident.'

Concern: The judges were out of their chairs asking if the gymnast was all right

Sharon commented: 'You were at lemmings tonight. The thing is, I was looking for the performance value from you and tonight I didn't see that. But I thought you were tremendous.'

Howie retorted: 'I disagree with both of them. As a headline act, you have so much to give.'

After being checked out by a medic side of stage, both of the injured gymnasts were declared fine.

As always, Anna Graceman dazzled everyone in the auditorium with her stunning vocals.

Talent: Anna Graceman wowed with her own take on Mötley Crüe's 'Home Sweet Home, earning herself a standing ovation from the audience and judges

The spunky 11-year-old, in a pink and black tutu dress wowed with her own take on Mötley Crüe's 'Home Sweet Home, earning herself a standing ovation from the audience and judges.

Sharon informed her that her friends from the band were watching her performance, as she had called to let them know after she heard Anna would be singing their song.

Both Piers and Sharon called the youngster's act the performance of the night.

Piers Morgan drew criticism for buzzing out three separate acts throughout the course of the evening.

Risqué: Piers was early on the buzzer for pole dancer Steven Retchless, saying that the only men who should be sliding down poles should be firemen

He was early on the buzzer for pole dancer Steven Retchless, saying that the only men who should be sliding down poles should be firemen.

After his third buzz, Morgan insisted: 'I believe the buzzer is here for a reason and we're judges and I'm looking for perfection or as near to it as possible.

The comment was directed at jump-rope act Summerwind Skippers, who performed a routine to Britney Spears' song Till the World Ends.

Morgan added: 'The last time, we forgave you for for making a mistake. But tonight you made one, then you made another big mistake towards the end of the routine so I buzzed you to be fair to the other contestants.'

On the buzzer: Morgan was also harsh on Summerwind Skippers, saying 'The last time, we forgave you for for making a mistake. But tonight you made another one so I buzzed you to be fair to the other contestants'

The other two judges were furious with Morgan for buzzing again. Howie Mandel said: 'You brought edge to skipping.

'I want to take this moment to apologise because I don't think you should be buzzed at this level and it affects the act.

'It's so great to see the progression you've made you have turned into such great performers,' Sharon said. 'You know how to work an audience and have grown so quickly over the past few weeks and I know you're going to be here for the final.'

Piers was far more enthusiastic about another dance troupe, Fatally Unique.

Emerging in Hannibal Lector- style costumes, the troupe performed a high-energy routine which dazzled Sharon and Piers, but underwhelmed Howie.

Scary: Howie questioned if dance troupe Fatally Unique were fatally unique enough to get through to the finals up against the other dance acts

Sharon told them: 'You guys move with such speed and precision its really breathtaking to watch, the speed you perform at is unbelievable.

'It seems this year is definitely about mean dance. Happy dance is dead, gone, out of vogue. I loved what you did tonight, really well done.

Piers added: 'This was a totally fresh routine. I loved the determination in your faces. After that performance I think you are one step nearer (to winning this).'

But Howie wasn't convinced. 'You are phenomenal at dancing but the bad part is there are so many great dance acts,' he said. 'I wonder if you are 'fatally unique' enough, which America has to decide.'

Push the button: He asked for the trio to assist with his trick, which involved each of them selecting a button which was connected to a detonator, exploding one of four boxes suspended above the stage

Illusionist Landon Swank from Alaska once again thrilled the judges, this time involving them in his daring stunt.

He asked for the trio to assist with his trick, which involved each of them selecting a button which was connected to a detonator, exploding one of four boxes suspended above the stage.

On a video link from inside one of the boxes, he said: 'I've tried to predict which number you will pick and I'm locked into my decision.'

On Landon's command the judges each triggered the detonators, exploding boxes 1,3 and 4.
Landon emerged in one piece from box two. He then asked Piers to push the detonator for that box, which then exploded.

A stunned Howie exclaimed: 'Wow, absolute wow! Last time I was concerned because you came very close to killing yourself. This time I was concerned because we came close to killing you. My heart is pounding. That was amazing.'

Great heights: Despite his spectacular stunt, Captian Splash failed to bowl over the judges with his drop

Piers commented: 'You have been a real dark horse, coming in as a wild card. Tonight what we've seen is someone who took a chance with this incredible extravaganza. Very dangerous, very exciting.'

'My hands are shaking,' Sharon said. 'I'm so nervous but I have to tell you the whole presentation was A+, it was fantastic. The whole nine yards - it was sensationally executed.

She added:'In the past most of our magicians have shown us the big tricks early, but you've been saving yourself and pacing yourself.'

Audience favourite Landau Eugene Murphy divided the judges when he sang I've Got the World On a String.

'Mark told me we'd be more successful if I lost weight': reveals Lauren Goodger as she poses in the nude before split

By ALANAH ERIKSEN

Happy times: Mark and Lauren seen during their engagement party which was filmed for the show in April

Lauren Goodger reveals former fiance Mark Wright told her to lose weight and made her feel like she should be 'obsessed' with being slim.

The telling interview came days before the couple's shock split and may shed some light on the reasons why The Only Way Is Essex' on-off couple broke off their engagement.

Although, he claims it was because she cheated on him during a night out in Essex while he was holidaying in Marbella - a claim she vehemently denies.

Words of advice: Lauren says Mark told her they would be a more successful couple if she lost weight

Lauren, 24, revealed her insecurities in an interview with Heat magazine in which she posed naked, covering her modesty with her arms, but showing off her behind.

She said she hated her arms and thinks her legs are 'disgusting'.

She believed Mark, 24, had received tweets asking him why he was with her as she was 'the biggest one' and that if she lost weight she would have 'more control' over his wandering eye.

Lauren, who says she is a size 10, says she has avoided mirrors for years and admitted it was hard having a boyfriend who was so fit.

Skinny friends: Lauren claims Mark has compared her body to TOWIE castmate Amy Childs'. Maria Fowler also sports an enviable figure.

'He makes me feel like I should be obsessed, so that's double pressure,' she said.

'He tells me that we'll be a bigger couple because people like to see good-looking slim people.

'The other day I said "Look my hips look big" and he was like "Yeah, they do. That's because your hips are big at the minute."'

When asked if her boyfriend had ever asked her to lose weight, she said: 'Yeah. He wants us to train together and get fit for the show. But I couldn't survive on a bowl of lettuce. We both love our food.'

Added pressure: Lauren, who has been doing boot camp to try and lose weight, said it was hard to have a boyfriend who is so fit

Mark even compared her to their TOWIE castmates.

She added: 'He says to me "You're the best-looking girl on that show, if you had an amazing body..." He says I am so much more beautiful than Amy [Childs], but because of her body she gets [to pose for] Vogue and I think he's right.'

Lauren punishes herself by looking at pictures of Victoria's Secret models.

But although she wants to lose weight, she says she would never starve herself and wouldn't have surgery.

Moving on: Lauren was seen moving boxes out of Mark's flat on Saturday after they broke up

She admits to having taken diet pills but says she didn't like the way they made her feel 'shaky'.

Mark has constantly been heard commenting on Lauren's weight throughout the two seasons of TOWIE.

In the second episode, while the couple were broken up, Mark is seen watching footage of Lauren being given a spray tan by Amy.

He says: 'Why is she doing that, she looks f***** 19 stone, the div. Why would you even bother?''

Lauren isn't the only one who has been criticised by Mark for his weight - he often slags of his best friend Arg for how much he eats

His sister Jessica replies: 'Mark don't be nasty.'

The couple, who became engaged five months ago, announced their split on Saturday and Lauren was seen moving boxes out of Mark's flat the next day.

Ironic: The couple were seen shooting scenes for an advert for the third series of the show last week with Mark donning a fatsuit

Although Lauren had barely aged at all, Mark was covered in wrinkles.

And it looked as if he was now the obedient husband instead of wayward fiancé and was carrying a baby's nappy bag while Lauren pushed a pram with the couple's fictional twins.

The September 3-9 issue of Heat features the full interview with Lauren.

'I'm on the edge': Paddy Doherty breaks down after Fright Night saying he can't mix with 'country people' as he brands housemates 'morons'

By SARAH FITZMAURICE

'I'm on the edge': Paddy Doherty broke down in the diary room and told Big Brother he was finding the experience hard branding his other housemates as 'all morons

Paddy Doherty broke down after a special screening and headed to the diary room where he revealed he was ‘on the edge.’

After watching a screening of the film Fright Night Paddy was left fuming at the antics of the troublesome twins Jedward and he stormed into the diary room.

The My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star screamed as he entered the diary room and told Big Brother explained his confusion.

He said: ‘I’m all f***ed up in the head here.’You don’t understand Big Brother. I don’t know what is wrong. Look at this.’

As he sat with his head in his hands Paddy revealed he felt ‘disgusted’ after seeing the horror film and branded everyone else in the house was a ‘moron’.

He also revealed he was having trouble mixing with ‘country people.’

Paddy ranted: ‘I’m like a fish out of water. I don’t mix with country people.’

'I'm a fish out of water': The My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star said he felt out of his depth mixing with 'country people' because as a traveller he doesn't normally mix with them

‘They are laughing at stupid things. I need my woman to say Paddy you are alright.’

Paddy broke down after he watched a special screening of Fright Night with task winners Jedward, Tara, Bobby, Pamela and John.

The housemates had been tasked with eating garlic dishes and Paddy had eaten his garlic ice cream quicker than Lucien.

Not impressed: Paddy said the film screening, which was a prize for winning the Fright Night task left him feeling 'disgusting' and he only went because he was bored

After finishing the foul food Paddy was seen holding his head in his hands screaming: ‘Mummy, mummy, mummy.’

Speaking to Big Brother after the task he said: ‘I’m dying. I’m a write off. I need a priest to give me a blessing and I need a doctor to look at my stomach.’

The task saw Tara beat Amy in a race to drink garlic smoothies, Bobby thrashing Darryn by chowing down on garlic cereal and Pamela finishing her garlic chocolate before Kerry.

Tasty treat: Paddy had beaten Lucien earlier in the day's task which saw housemates eating foul foods made of garlic

Worse for wear: After he won the task Paddy told Big Brother he needed a priest and a doctor and said he didn't feel well at all

Jedward's John Grimes beat his brother Edward in their pairing by eating his bowl of garlic jelly the quickest.

The stars of fright night Anton Yelchin and Christopher Mintz-Plasse entered the house to provide the winners with their golden tickets and Jedward were so excited to meet ‘McLovin’.

It wasn't just Paddy who has started to feel the strain living in the Big Brother house Lucien also revealed that he had let people 'get inside his head'.

In pain: John managed to chow down on the garlic jelly he and his brother were given to eat but he didn't look happy about it

Yummy food? Darryn and Bobby were tasked with eating garlic cereal and Bobby managed to eat his the quickest

The model confided in Kerry, who he shared a kiss with on yesterday's show, to say that he was being influenced by Tara.

And his distance was noticed by the American Pie actress who told Big Brother she was aware that the model had been off with her.

Good technique: Tara held her nose as she downed the garlic milkshake which proved a good tactic as she beat Amy but the drink left her retching

Feeling fragile: Kerry held her head in her hands as she and Pamela tried to calm themselves down. Pamela ate her garlic chocolate the quickest

She said: 'I’m a little bit down today. When you nominate people you feel bad and you see different sides to them. I know I’m a strong person I know I’ll get through it but its hard.

She added: 'I felt the closest with Mumbles but he pulled away and I feel that he is avoiding me. I enjoy being with him he was like my brother.'

It seems that Lucien felt that Tara had influenced him to vote for snapper Darryn and the model was quick to apologise to the Australian.

New housemates? The stars of Fright Night Anton Yelchin and Christopher Mintz-Plasse entered the house to give the winning housemates tickets to a special screening of their vampire movie and joined the gang in the task room to watch the film

Causing a stir: Housemates, particularly Jedward were overwhelmed by the actor's entering the house

Darryn learned he was nominated alongside Pamela for eviction this week and knew that his friend Lucien had voted for him.

After the task the model asked Darryn to come into the garden for a chat where he revealed he was struggling with his decision.

Lucien told Darryn: 'I’m a sheep in situations and I’m not proud of it. I don’t know what I have done to deserve what has happened from you.'

'I know for a fact there’s no rectifying what I've done. I think you are a great bloke but it doesn’t.'

Darryn responded by saying: 'If anything comes out of this let’s make it positive.

'Don’t ever in your life let people sway you. Every decision I make has to come form my gut.

'I can totally understand you are a young man on the path of learning life. I love you to bits.'

Wearing a bikini to do the washing up? It must be Amy Childs (and she tells Jedward off for not joining her)

By ALANAH ERIKSEN

Chore time: Amy and Darryn say a lot of the contestants haven't been pulling their weight in the house

She said last last week her family had always hired help to do the household chores.
But the Big Brother house appears to have brought Amy Childs down to earth a little bit.
Realising quickly that the housemates wouldn't be privy to certain luxuries like staff, the former Only Way Is Essex star has pulled her weight in keeping the place clean.

And she even joined paparazzo Darryn Lyons in telling of cheeky twins Jedward for not helping out yesterday.

Not fair: Amy got even more annoyed when one of the twins told her that the other housemates were sunbathing while she was cleaning

But she didn't let up on the glamour, opting for a customised Dolly Boutique purple bikini to do the dishes, not worrying about being splattered by hot water.

The 21-year-old's two-piece had the words 'Miss Childs' spelled out in diamantes on it.

Amy sported several pink rollers in her hair to keep the trademark flame-coloured locks voluminous.

Sparkle girl: Amy's customised bikini bottoms had the words 'Miss Childs' spelled out in diamantes

And she kept on her silver jewellery and wore a massive pair of Paris Hilton-style sunglasses.

As she scrubbed pots and pans in the Elstree house's open-plan kitchen, Darryn kicked off at pop duo Jedward, akak John and Edward Grimes.

He said: 'It takes literally five seconds of your time in here to help everyone out.

Fashionable: Amy continued to flick her hair and pout as she did the dishes and argued with the twins, wearing massive sunglasses and pink roller in her red barnet

'I think we're being really reasonable guys, we're asking for a little bit of help.

Not a lot. It's not only you, there are a lot of people not cleaning up in here.

'I mean jam butter all over the towels. It's not appropriate.'

He asked them: 'You're mother wouldn't like it would she, in her house?' to which they replied in unison 'No'.

They tried to escape being blamed for the dirty towels by saying they didn't eat butter.

Impressive: Paddy Doherty, of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding fame, watches one of the twins do a flip

But Amy joined in, asking: 'Do you eat jam, do you eat marmalade, do you eat pancakes? Everything is everywhere boys.

'Boys I'm not moaning at you because I love you. But I'm just saying to you, it's getting a bit of a joke really. I'm getting f***** off because I'm feel like I'm doing the washing up every day.'

One of the twins goes outside to see what the other contestants are doing, finds them sunbathing and tells Amy.

Big tumble: The twins are always getting up to mischief in the house, shocking viewers who tune in each night

She says: 'Exactly, they're all sunbathing. I would love to sunbathe. I'm the sun worshiper more than anyone. It just feels like I keep on doing this everyday.'

She said Sally Bercow, the first contestant to be evicted from the house, had a good idea when she came in the house to do a rota but everyone had 'just absolutely messed up' with the schedule.

'I'm not arguing with you babe, I'm really not. I'm not arguing with anyone but I think we just all need to help each other out babe.'

My turn: Paddy, 52, even had a go but failed to keep up with his younger counterparts, landing flat on his back

One of the twins apologises and Amy says 'You ain't got to apologise to me, I'm just trying to help you out babe.'

A twin promises: 'I'll start helping you guys out.'

This morning Jedward entertained Lucien Laviscount and Paddy Doherty by teaching them to do flips in the air.

But 52-year-old Paddy, of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding fame, couldn't keep up with his younger counterparts and landed flat on his back.

One of the twins offered the reassuring words: 'Amazing, god, crazy.'
